Augmented Reality Experience at Porta Giuliana
AREXPG is a browser-based augmented reality experience created for Famagusta Gate, once known as Porta Giuliana, in Nicosia. Visitors simply scan a QR code and the experience launches directly in their smartphone's browser, with no app download required.
Powered by our custom Visual Positioning System (VPS), AREXPG anchors interactive digital layers to the physical monument with millimeter accuracy, allowing visitors to explore architectural details, historical points of interest, voice-over stories, 3D reconstructions and past-and-present visualisations. The experience also includes a 360° virtual tour of the Gate's interior.
The project was developed with the support of HERIFORGE: Cultural Heritage and Immersive Technologies Forge, combining cultural heritage interpretation with immersive technologies to create a more engaging and accessible visitor experience.
